Vet question

Iguanas lose their tails every day.........Take something sharp, cut it off, and it'll never know the difference........I've caught thousands, and if we get a broken tail, we'll cut it off instead of waiting for it to fall off.........Never ever had an infection......Its not like losing a limb or other consequential body part.......It's made to be severed......

I went ahead and snapped the tail off the other day. I wrapped him up in some warm wet towels to keep him from struggling and I iced the tail for about 10 minutes and with a quick snap, it came right off about 7" above the bottom of the tail leaving him with about another 10" left. So far so good. I left the tail covered for one night to stop the bleeding and keep it clean and now i regularly wash out the opening with betadine and H2O2 and then I apply some neosporin. pretty simple and it does not seem to be bothering Julio (my iguana) at all.

thanks for your help.

keep us updated. pics too if he or u dont mind. lol

Oh boy:nilly:Once again I CANT LEAVE YOU GUYS ALONE FOR A FEW WEEKS CANT I:irked: If you posted a pic of the tail there WAS another way to deal with that prob without you having to do that and without having to pay that huge vet bill. But now its done and lets hope for the best. I dont know what you mean by "icing" but doesant seems good...
