ViaAqua Titanium 300 Watt, your EXPERIENCES?

They receive mixed reviews - some people love them, but enough people have had problems that I would stay away. A good temperature controller and glass heaters is the way to go, in my opinion. I use a couple of controllers. The first controller is a Medusa, it has lasted 15 years with zero problems, but unfortunately went out of production a few years ago. The second is a Pinpoint controller, which I've used for about five years. It has also been a very good unit, but doesn't have the lighted display and over/under temperature alarm that the Medusa has.

I connect my controllers to glass heaters with the temp set at 85. That way if the controller were to stick on or the probe were to get pulled out of the water the heaters will shut off before cooking anybody. Cascade brand heaters are dirt-cheap and seem to work well.

I got my tank up to an acceptable temp by compensating for the heaters' readouts. That was not my first choice. nor had I originally intended to put all these on one tank, I have other tanks. I only did that because the temp dropped by 5 degrees.

Dan, I did look at temp controllers, but they were all very expensive & I was shopping for sale prices, even just for these heaters.

I have an older 200 watt Via Aqua with manual control. Never had a problem heating a 150 gallon tank. It will crank the heat up to the low 90's with no problem.

Now unplug 2 of them and I'll bet you it'll hold that temp within 2-3 degrees
For eternity.

yes, I unplugged one and the temperature is staying up. so my tank is ok.
ALL 3 heaters have to be set 6 degrees higher than what is wanted. that is a Lg error, an issue if high heat were ever required.
I wonder if this is common to the brand? they're supposed to be limited to 92 degrees, so mine will be 86.

Maybe your thermometer your using for comparison is off a degree or 2. Mine are all only 3 degrees high.

What about if I have two 300 watts with the sensors right next to each other and one reads 82degrees and the other reads 78 degrees...is there any accounting for that
