Vid of my crew

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very nice!

Did you grow up the three black aros together or put them together at a larger size?

I'd speed that process up - that tank already looks to narrow for 1 aro, not to mention 3

I have a house full of poeple showing up for the motorcycle rally the first week of august and cant have my house torn up while they are here. untill then I am doing what I can do. I agree the tank is too small for the aro's and the rays

Rays look really good. The Leo's in particular.
Surprised the plec is alive though.

Thanks, the gn pleco is a tough little guy and holds his own with the rays but the aro's make it nervous.

All looks very nice and in great shape. Do they rays shove those smaller rocks around?

Thanks, yes the rays are alawys moving and banging the rocks. about once a week I have to re stack them.

Nice collection.

Thanks scott

Beautiful aros and rays Bryan

Thanks KNH. Brent and digginrays deserve the credit for breeding them.

The rays look top notch
I don't think the black sand does them justice

Is the tank acrylic and badly scratched or does the glass need cleaning

The rays look healthy and good but either the tank is scratched of the water is not that great

Thanks T1 the tank is in rough shape, scratched, crazed and badly bowed. and is why the vid is from the end, the crazing makes it hard to get good pics. I knew this when I got the tank and since it is a grow out tank I diddnt see the need to spend a pile on it. Water is crystal clear. I really liked the moon sand when I put it in but even with 3' of water it is still getting into the filter. The next tank will have a natural color sand in it.

Thanks tanglovers, The aro's are just about 2 years old. when I bought them one still had the juvi coloration and the other 2 were just changeing.they have been together all this time except about two weeks when they were still about 4-5" had to seperate them due to agression.

I was sure it was the tank that was scratched

Making the right choice of sand is very hard

I made the mistake of using a very fine sand and even with the top of my weirs being over 34 inch high big rays still flapped and loads got into the sump
I put 125kg of sand in my tank when I took it out only 75kg in the tank and 50lg in the sump

Good luck with the new project

Sorry I missed you on the first round Keepin, Yes the female is really spotting up nicely. I went and re read some old threads and our pups are from different parents, I like the bigger spots yours have-- maybe a pup swap in the future ? The leo from brent has spots on his front Where are you refering to ?

Thanks again T1 I am leaning to a natural biotope tank with a open top so the aro's can jump and not smack the top, with play sand and a stump or log in the tank.

You bet Venom, one thing I am not shy about is posting pics.

It would have glass or acrylic in the front and plywood on the sides and back with small pockets or a trough for pothos vines fed with drip emmiters. no way to jump out just up. Aro's were born to jump it seems like a no brainer to let them as long as they cannot jump out or get hurt.
