Vid of my new Palembang Puffer

Hi Patrick, I also have Palembang, got last Tuesday, what are you feeding on? Have you any tank mates with him/her? Can't find much info., on this Puffer as I believe fairly new, common name is King Kong?2poc;2152912;2152912 said:Just got this guy last weekend. I live in the Isle of Man, so not too far away, from where did you purchase Palembang, mine looks about same size. They are very curious he sits and watches me and follows me from one end of tank to the other.

I picked up my Palembang here in Dublin.
(I actually spent a week in the isle of man about 15 years ago - lovely place!)
At the moment my puffer is sharing with a Mystus catfish, he was sharing with some African cichlid fry & an otto.
To answer your question re: feeding - I found half an otto in the tank yesterday...
I had to move out the Afircan cichlid fry as these were going missing too..
I havent had any luck getting him onto dead food yet.
I did get him to take an earthworm dangled in front of him on some fishing line but thats it..
I have tried dangling mussels on fishing line in front of him to no avail..
His supply of live food has run out now that poor mr. otto met his match so Im going to keep trying with the mussles & perhaps when he's hungry he'll eat.
Has yours eaten anything yet?
Cool little characters, he's watching me as I type at the moment but still pretty shy.

Hi Patrick, I have been to Dublin once, had my first Guinness, lovely smooth. My King Kong has only taken worms, they do prefer live food, I just put worms in trouble is he doesn't eat when you are watching so don't know if worms gone to "ground-i.e. under gravel or he/she has eaten them, but I don't have video camera that would be useful. I don't fancy feeding live fish I am too soft for that. Tried him on defrosted prawn would still be there if I hadn't removed same. I am thinking maybe he is going to starve to death, the only thing he did eat was my young Oscar's tail, so now he is on his own in a 240litre tank, he doesn't swim around when I am here, he goes from one corner to another.julia mansfield;2195315;2195315 said:
Maybe some wax worms, not too many as they are fatty and make tank a bit greasy I find, or maybe some live locusts. Did you know I think they will eat live snails and crustaceans, but don't quote me not so sure, I know they have teeth. My Oscar certainly met his match. Have searched the net but guy I bought off said they won't eat anything "dead"
He is in my bedroom, and he watches everything I do, I also have three poodle dogs, one of each size, he is most interested in them, keeps him busy. Not seen him swim though just sort of shuttles from one end to the other or goes behind plants, and hides when he thinks you are going to go into tank, when feeding worms looks at me suspiciously, but maybe they take longer to get use to you. Does anyone else have one????
