Hey guys,

Has been a while since I've really contributed anything here. I've been growing out these guys for getting on 10 months now from 3-5cm. I was doing a growth log but lack of interest in the hobby a while back shunted that idea. They have finally reached a size where their colours are coming out.

These guys are spawning much younger than anticipated. This pair actually haven't spawned yet, but they're both certainly ready, and there are multiple females in the tank looking plump with tubes down. The male measures in at a little bit over 12cm (just under 5") with the girls being noticably smaller.

Currently housing 15 in a 6x2x2 with some large groups of Inpaichthys kerri (Blue Emperor Tetra) and Corydoras caudimaculatus.

These aren't my best photographs or video ever, need another 12 months before they get really impressive I think :)

Cheers,
japes.

Very nice. I wouldn't mind having a group of them. I have yet to see them here though.

Those are really nice geos I love the tank too its set up nice. I like the blue stripe under the fish's eyes

They look amazing Ryan, great pics! The adult spangling on the flanks of this species is in my opinion the most attractive of the entire genus. Care to share your feeding regime for these guys?

They certainly do change quite a bit when they become true adults. While off yet for these little ones.

Was asked about my feeding regime earlier, so here's a copy/paste:

NLS Small Fish Formula
NLS Grow
NLS Optimum Fresh H2O Flake
NLS Cichlid Formula 1mm
NLS Thera+A 1mm
NLS H2O Stable Wafers (Crushed with Mortar & Pestle)
Hikari Excel (Crushed with Mortar & Pestle)
SERA Flora
Tetra Colorbits
Aqua-Pic's Freeze Dried Baby Brine Shrimp
Hikari Bio-Pure Range (Mainly Spiraluna Brine Shrimp, Brine Shrimp, few others like Daphnia, Rotifers, BBS etc.)

Smaller foods like the Freeze Dried Baby Brine Shrimp are for the Corydoras. I feed solid amounts of very tiny food - promotes sifting throughout the day, and helps feed the Corydoras. Given my other aquarium residents in the house, particularly my Taeniacara candidi which are fed exclusively on frozen foods, I'm going to the freezer at least once a day so they get a bit of a serve of frozen foods, usually Spiraluna Brine Shrimp, every day.

Just as an additional note, I usually crush/mix foods each meal, so they'll get a serve of a few different pellets/flakes each feeding.

As for my regime, usually twice a day, but given the grain size they will spend at least 2 hours after feeding constantly sifting. Bigger meal once a week on a Wednesday as I'm away for a couple of days every week. It's a mixed bag really - I used to have a schedule I'd follow with certain foods on certain days but that was really just to try and evenly deplete each type of food than benefit the fish in any way.

I can do a video of me feeding if you'd like.

I love'em, great pics they are really nice looking fish.
