Its a really tough choice... The rapidly developing China is constantly in seek of a sustainable energy source to fuel its development, yet this causes massive impacts. The choice of impacting the species of fishes that live in the river over the alternative of having to consume massive amounts of fossil fuel, it is really a tough choice. If we try to put matters into perspective, the Americans too have built various dams to for power and electricity supply. It is hard to say that this is a wrong decision per se but its probably the lesser of two evils. From a conservationist standpoint, the best choice is of course for all of us to stay organic and go back to stone age. But until, a better renewable energy source can be found, environmental energy sources is probably still the most environmentally friendly, though I can't say the same from an ecological standpoint.
