weird , Mine has always been friendly. When I come home he comes up to the glass to greet me and sometimes I swear he's smiling. Also before I had him trained to eat his food out of a pottery plate to reduce risk of gravel swallowing. But now I prefer the new method I did it a few minutes ago with some bigger carnivore pellets he took it right from between my fingers.

You're lucky that your bichir will swim against the glass waiting for food. I wish my bichirs were more like that instead of darting all over the tank. Seeing and hearing my 12" polys thumping on the glass is frightenning.

Joe, I bet yours are scared since most are wild caught. This little guy has been around humans since day 1.

I just hope my future bichirs are this cool I think your right about joe's any wild caught specimen is usually a little easy to startle and hard to pet. LOL my bichir was a petsmart baby I rescued

Wild caught get startle way too easy. Sometimes they'll go on hunger strike for a day or two just because I add a new bichir tankmate. I have my angels that I can hand feed. It's the only reason why I still love angels.
