guys please take a look at the vid. he seems to be growing fine (3 inches) and never hides but for some reason he doesn't sport the argentea mask much is this normal at this size ?

Seems fine. Mine has a mask that's kinda just slowly fading away. I wouldn't worry about it. Hell it'll look clean when its all grown up.

I think what's happening is ..... He's kinda faded cause he's just a little irritated. Agitated. Frustrated. Ya see, all these orange striped guys (tiger barbs?) are all just ON him, schizing around, not staying still. Serious, made me nervous watching it.

I had him with two other args and 2 heterospilis and he beat tbe crap out of all of them. Will his mask eventually turn out even if he is the lone cichlid ? Meaning does it have to do with breeding or something ?

Easily has turned into my favirote fish

Its all based on temperment - how its feeling at the time. It will come and go - don't worry

I think what's going on is that you have a weird looking Regani or a hybrid between an Argentea and a Regani

I could be wrong, i've been out of the game for a long time, but that right there looks a lot like a young Regani to me, except for the black blotch on the tail, which looks Argentean.

Weird

I maybe off but he looks to be a Regani to me. Regani don't sport the mask and in the vid his coloration looks more green then the silver of a Argentea. If he is a Regani he's a feisty one as most Regani tend to be more shy and retiring ime then Argentea. Also if he winds up being a Regani I'd gladly trade you for my Argentea. :grinyes:

He shows up around 0:36 I believe
