Vieja Bifasciatus Pair

Very sparkling pair. . . How do u know if the eggs have been fertilized ? and when to remove them ?

The eggs start off translucent and I remove them when I see dark spots on them. The darkening of the eggs ensures me that the eggs have been fertilized. Removing them when they're wiggling would be a mess because they'll easily fall off and probably be eaten from the disruption.

Nice pair, look to me to be 2 different variants of Bifas. Do you know what the variants are?

The pair was listed as synspillums but they are definitely bifas. Cannot say what variants are in them because they readily cross breed with others. Any ideas out there? The colors were what attracted me to them. Here's a good luck of the male with its two stripes & red spots to help determine its a bifa.

I've seen different bifas all the time but they are Bifas. Like this pair is a bifa.

Free swimming & feeding on micro-worms. Bred cichlids in the past and have only fed fry frozen baby brine shrimp. First time using these worms and they love it. If you look closely, you can make out the tiny micro-worms suspended in the water. I ordered a small culture of these worms for betta fry but looks like they're good for any fry's first bite. Easy to cultivate...never will run out of them unless I run out of oatmeal (what the worms feed on). Micro-worms will live in the water up to 2 days but they're eaten within minutes so no polluting of the water. So much easier than cultivating baby brine shrimp if you don't mind the sour smell.

Progression & updated pics after 2 months. Started off with over 200 fry...now culled down to about 100. Fry show a little more orange in person. Got tired of crushing pellets so now feeding them Tetra Color Tropical Granules (Formerly Tetra Color Bits). They eat non-stop.
