Vieja bocourti

Has anyone kept these?
How aggro are they?
A single male ?

There pretty laid back for centrals, can get bullied by more aggressive sp, but huge growing fish that have the capability to be a problem.
What are you thinking of housing it with.

great fish to keep and very mellow. They like to eat and can become fat quiet easily

Great fish, heavily vegetarian, mine out grew a 150 tank in about 2 years, and I moved them to a 400 gal kiddy pool. Non-aggressive as long as they are kept in a large enough tank, and they need probably 3 times as much filtration as would normally thought adequate for normal tanks.


Mine would reduce my entires lawns dandelion crop to nubs in moments.

I have 2 in my 125....both males I'm pretty sure. the larger one sometimes chases the smaller one for a few seconds but that's about it. as others have said, they eat a LOT and grow very quickly.

Not sure if these are same mines a Cincelichthys bocourti. He's extra extra large at about 12-14 inches long at the moment.

Very calm but don't take no crap mines just started protecting his corner from my festeas
