VIEJA CICHLIDS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I currently have two synspillum, one normal fenestratus, one pink fenestratus, one bifaciatas and one melanura. Except for one 3 year old synspillum, they are all juvenile or sub adult and I haven't found personalily in any of them yet. Vieja species tend to be shy and do not display the boisterous behavior like Midas and Jaguar. I haven't come across a glass banging Vieja fish yet.

I've been getting into vieja lately and Id have to agree with what seems to be two of the most popular, argentea and zonatus

How much can a Guttulata or Zonatus about 8 - 10 inches go for? A lfs is selling one labeled as a Gutt, but looks more like a Zon to me. I will take a pic once I go back there and post it to help get an ID. But still curious of what you guys paid for them. Thx.

Nice syn beerad555!

I've got two coatzacoalcos I've been growing out from 1.25in. They're about 4in now and starting to show some color. I really like what I'm seeing too - they have a little bit of everything - mostly blue, but red & greens too.

I pick Argentea. They just look so cool with the long flowing fins and the black over their heads. I also love the black spotting on their bodies. They're one of the more graceful looking cichlids imo.
