Just a couple of pics of my Melanurus. I felt compelled to post the pic as in a previous post some members were very negative about the Vieja species. I have 4 of the species , Melanurus, Zonatus, Maculicauda, and Bifasciatus all in different tanks, they are all very colorful and active. This is a pic of the Melanurus at about 6", purchased from Rapps, how can someone not like the color on that species. I also posted a pic of one of my favorite Madagascar Cichlids, a Paratilapia Bleekei about 5".

I know everyone has their favorite species and I'm not trying to bash anyone regarding that, just trying to give props to the Vieja. Thanks.

I had him in another tank, just switched him to this tank to reduce the wear and tear on him. I'm hoping he looks better in a week or so.

Nice Melanurus. I agree that all Viejas are underrated a bit. They are great fish with lots of colors.

I have a melanurus from Rapps as well. Yours looks different from mine but vieja a known to look quite different from fish to fish. Here is a pic of mine. He/she is around 7" or so.

looks very similar to your fish

I've been thinking about what to stock in a 125+ when I uprade, and I was thinking about stocking it with a pair of some sort of veija (paratheraps), I didn't know they had downsides. I'd be interested to know what the critics had to say about them.

Beautiful fish. If they've got half in personality that they have in looks then they've got to be awesome fish!
