I was reading may issue of TFH and there was an article on this beautiful species, vieja microphthalma. Does anyone keep these? If so please post pics and your experience with them, also any info on aggression to availability. Ide love to keep a few! All I really gathered was they are from the Rio Copan, which there are cichlids available in the hobby from there. Interesting. A pic from the magazine

Mo,
I would be interested in who else has this fish. I have a pair that spawn all the time through a divider but very little luck in viable fry. I have a handful. I thought I was the only one that had a pair. Please elaborate. Thanks.

i gave my pair to a friend of mine locally. they have spawned for him...much bigger tank...400 gallons. he just lets the fry in the tank. some make it, others just food. Dan Woodland had a pair for a long time. I think Eric Hanneman did...but not sure. A few others. These were pretty well circulated a couple years ago.

Seems like they died out, when people had a tough time raising the fry, let alone spawn them in the first place.

Hoping i can my hands on some, some day, however i don't think there's any left in europe :(
