I had purchased a pair of vontehillos an turquoise from ira a few months back...but unfortunatly my turquoise's didn't survive soon after I received them from packaging....I got over them.....UNTIL....I started reading this post.....GRRRRRR!!!!!. Makes me wanna buy some more now

With my experince with vieja the maculicauda grow very fast.

That sucks man. You should get some more, I'm enjoying mine. I'd like to get a few more even or some 'blue labridens'.

All of those are slow growers. They always seem like they don't grow at all for 6 months then they put on an 1" or 2 pretty quickly. I wouldn't expect any of them to put on more then 6" in one year. After they hit the 6-8" mark they tend to slow down even more. Adding just 1-3" per yer at the most until there adult size.

There are always exceptions and you could have one that really grows fast but on average 0.5" per month would be really good.

Yeah I'm really excited. I'm going to try and find a large female to pair him up with and maybe add a few swordtails as dithers, but that's it.

Thanks, man. I'm kinda glad that they're slower growers as that gives me a little bit of time to get another tank set up. If anything, I can get some to a friend if they get too rowdy. I just can't wait to see them big.

ive had two fenes before and they seem to grow slower than the syns, argentea, and blackbelts i have owned.
