Does anybody know what theses guys are? Sorry for the fuzzy pic. I bought them from my LFS who said the came from the cichlid Exchange as synspilum.

My guess was bifa as well but the dominant fish gets a very blue sheen all over the body so it's got me guessing. Here's another pic if it helps.

For what it's worth I have never kept bifasciatum and so I don't really know what they look like as juveniles.

Except without the blue sheen... He kind of looks like a mix of bifas and zonatus or guttulatus

So do they lose the blue as they mature and become more red and orange. Mine are 4" at best but I'm pretty sure I have a pair already. The dominant one is showing a spawning tube and tolerates the smallest in his presence.

It looks like a bifaciatas to me. The lack of vertical bars suggests that it is not a fenestratus or zonatas. The complete harizontal stripe and not a half stripe suggests that is is not a synspillum or melanuras. Regardless, it is a high quality fish already showing good color at such a small size and I would grab it myself if I see it.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Sounds like most are saying bifa. I'm curious to see if they hold their strong colors into adulthood.
