I came home three days ago to a rock full of eggs in the love tank, thought I was in luck. But, they remained grey, and now many are turning white. Apparently The large Vieja just wasn't feeling it.

Shown Here: Failure.

These two were introduced a few weeks ago after receiving the female BP from Riftraft here on the forums.

They are inseparable now, seem as paired as paired can get - so I'm not sure why he didn't pull the trigger on the whole egg thing.

This was her first laying here - any advice on what I can do to get him in the mood for next time? Thanks!

Sometimes it just takes the male a couple times to get it right. This is their first time, so it's normal. The good thing is they didn't eat the eggs. Goo luck with this project! Very interesting pair! So you have pic of the dad. Would love to see him 😃

The only pics I have on hand are from when he had a bump on his fin I couldn't figure out how to treat. It wound up taking a dip to cure him - first time I'd ever had to do that. He's very dark and stressed in the pics -because somethings growing on his back. And my blackberry's camera sucks.

His name is "Don't hurt us" Curtis. The other fish are terrified of him.

He's been a GREAT fish - I don't do it often because I worry about his slime coat, but he eats from my hand and lets me pet him, loves the attention. I'd really like to mate him one way or another. He was 13 inches when I measured about 6 months ago, and has never paired off before this.

Hopefully he'll step his game up next time around. I really couldn't believe the female BP laid that quickly.

They'll make some awesome babies. Hopefully you can get that growth cured.

I came home today and the rock was bare except for some white ones. She is now guarding under the rocks where there is a cubby hole one of them made. I thought those eggs shown above were all unfertilized? My only experience is Africans, but if any of those were fertilized they'd be amber-ish, right? Is there a chance there's wigglers under the rocks?

1 tbs of red wine for every 5 gallons, some candles and you should be ready to go! :P
