Vieja Syn from Thailand

:popcorn:I don't know, the more I look at your Synspilum the more it looks like a hybrid. Given that you got the fish from Thailand I am questioning given the bright red coloration, the dorsal fin and the slight bar marking seen on the bottom photo you would think it was a cross between a synspilum and a festae. What do you guys think?, none the less nice looking fish. I just am curious to know what the parents of these fish look like.

^ wow I was thinking the exact same thing but I really didn't wanna say it. Not saying it's definitely a hybrid but a lot of the FH breeders in thailand have been crossing syns a lot recently such as the super red syn or the red monkey FH. Also the the heavy black blotch above the lateral line isn't a common trait I've seen on syns and actually the lateral line seems too long. I really like the fish though man, definitely not hating on it or anything.

I would hold off on breeding those until you can verify if they actually are synspilum or hybrids. It would not be good to our hobby to pass those fish of as pure syns to any of our fellow members.

Ya that red tail and fin edge definitely looks more like a bifasciatus trait. Actually so does that big black spot above the lateral. You think it's a possible syn x bifa cross?

Pretty sure those aren't pure synspilum. Kept and bred these guys many times. The fact that they came from Thailand doesnt help. Not trying to steal your thunder..just sayin'....

Beautiful fish, I love the coloration!
