Vieja synspilum colours

hey been looking in to getting a Vieja synspilum seen heaps of brightly coloured fish on yourtube but when ive seen them in my LFS they are quite dull, mainly black and white, is this just cause they are babies? dose colour come with age?

would really like one with colours like this

Color comes with age by 4" color should be starting to come in and if there is no real color at 6" they are probably low quality. But you also have to take into effect a fish living in a pet store under probably less than ideal conditions isn't going to look it's best. Hope this helps.

Pretty much but with lots of water changes and quality diet your chances are pretty good. Those came from cichlidsoftheamericas by the way so if you don't mind buying online I recommend Dan for sure.

this is,my make syn from dan of coa. a really good quality syn should start showing some red in the head and blue at 2-3"

second pic is my buddies, same strain but feom don conkle. male 5" female 3.5"

Here it's main wen i buy hem(her) from lfs it was dull loking at 2in after 5 months its 6in

Yea i was totally inspired to get some synspilum from that video with the "f1 belizes" but the pair i got from the lfs look exactly like the ones people have posted, with almost zero blue. Still neat fish though.
