Vieja Synspilum

How do you know both are male and how big are they? The two look different. One has a slight hump, the other none. One has lighter color, the other darker and has a dark patch on the back that is atypical of synspillum.

I had the large one for a while now. His red head is more purple (from Belize). I just picked up the small one not too long ago and the head is more red than purple. They are both 100% male. Large one is 14" and small one is 7".
