Either way will work. It's cool to see them biting huge chunks off the zucchini. My

Pellets as staple and all the others as treats.

Don't worry about acid it'll be fine, but remember to remove any uneaten pieces of fruit or vegetables after a little bit. Experiment around to see what he likes with fruits and veggies. Mine ate leafy lettuces, blanched cabbage, cantelope, sliced grapes, peaches, apples, peas, and his favorite.....zucchini. If you feed peas, use (thawed) frozen, not canned, and pinch off the outer skin, just feed him the inner seed.

great, I just put the zucchini in for the first time. I have had the fish since tuesday, and it has been overwhelmingly skittish and stressed, and has had no interest in food. but within a minute of putting the zucchini in, the fish is now acting normal, swimming around, coloring up, dont know why, but maybe this has some effect on it

Bananas might be worth a try too ... one person saw a huge school of adult blackbelts hanging out next to where the waste shute dumped banana peels into the river and they went nuts over them.
