Vieja What??

Hello all.

I bought this fish about 4 months ago or so. It was sold to me as a synspilum. What do you guys think?

Looks like one to me, or maybe a Hartwegi? Could be a hybrid even. I'm not positive though.

BluKiller82, This must be fairly common. I was also told that the fish I was purchasing was a Vieja Synspilum or Plum Head as they called it. When I posted a pic on this site, someone PMed me that they thought it was probably a Hartwegi. I'm not that experienced with Viejas and wish I could take better fish pics. He does change color and at times gets very red in head and also gets three vertical black bars. It would be nice if I could catch a pic when he's colored up like that. Here's a few I took today.

there's no need for that

I haven't looked up hartwegi for a while so I'll have to do some checking around but honestly bifas was my first thought as well but the blue in the face isn't normal on bifasc.
