Vieja's Questions....?

I had a Synspillum and it was the most aggressive fish i ever owned.
It was rehomed after she had my oscar knock himself out and severely damaged, nipped my SD's and fought my Plecos over their Zuchinni...

Strange thing was that the only fish that wasn't bothered by her, was my Florida gar.
So, be carefull, they can be very temperamentfull..

Vieja female seem to be all right for a few months, then get the egg laying urge and it's ALL OUT WAR IN THE TANK!
Gars are tough but I'd stick with Vieja males if possible. A little steadier and more predictable.

Viejas in my experience, are not particularly agressive towards non-conspecifics. I dont think a V would even pay attention to a gar, they typically are aggro towards other cichlids. I have kept Regani, Argentea, and I currently have a Guttalatum. Id say if your going for a non-aggressive Vieja, the regani is a good choice, mine was very mild-mannered
