viewing window thickness in my plywood tank

To ask about using 1/8" glass on a 150 tank tells me that maybe you shouldn't be building a 150g tank yet. Try building a 20g tank 1st and use that 1/8" glass for it. I have 15 gallon tanks, with 3/16" glass that are only 12" high.
Height of tank alone should not determine the glass thickness. You need to factor in safety. A 10 gallon tank won't do much damage to a home if it breaks, but a 150g tank can do much damage to a home or even kill a person if the glass breaks.

I wrote a glass thicknesss calculator for DIY tanks, maybe it help.

Ok,i got a 6 foot long piece of 5/8 for 20$.I was wondering if 7/16 ply would be ok for my build?its 6.50 a 4x8 sheet and i only need to make the bottom (the rest is 3/4 i think)

Its OSB,cheaper thatn ply, stronger but more prone to swelling from water.I am going to coat the sides with drylok and the edges.About 3 coats. Will it be fine?

when you try this out let me know how that works out. i started a thread asking about drylok but no response. i agree that the glass is too thin but it depends on the location of it. if the window is at the very top with some bracing it might just work out, if it is at the bottom i would go with at least a 3/8 . good luck on your project and keep me posted on the drylok

pitbull check your box,i will be starting my 150 gallon tank soon, just got to get more cash (im on an allowance and im 15)
