Visi Therm heater malfunctioned

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Now I remembered that I called the recall number for Marineland and they sent me the visi therm as replacement. Ordered the Jager heaters, hopefully they will work better

Second bad experience. Heater set at 82 degrees but found my Albino Iridescent shark lying on the tank upside down while the rest of the fishes appear in no distress (Odoe, Dat, koi) When I fished it out, water was freezing. The ID was barely breathing, I tossed it into another tank (78-80 degrees)and after a few minutes it began moving, swimming upside down, in circles. Few more minutes it's slowing recovering swimming normally.
I started to medicate with ich medication plus salt -keeping fingers crossed. Found a spare heater to replace for now.

Few years back, a different visi therm over heated the tank and all my dats died.

I know marineland heaters had a recall few yrs back, anyone heard of one for Visi Therm?

Why did you add salt and ich medicine?

If the jagers fail you I would recommend just regular aqueon glass heaters. I have only had one of them fail on me and it surly didnt overheat the tank but it just stopped working, thankfully the stock is a very hardy jag. After 4 faithful years at a stable 78 degrees it died and aqueon fixed it and shipped it back and a 300 watt heater cost me 4 dollars in shipping. Cant beat their life time warranty and great and I mean great customer service.

I found that this is the best place to buy heaters and they do a very good job as in packing it so nothing is broken when it arrives. At 18 bucks for 300 watts, its a great deal. This same jag kept pushing a 150 watt heater above the water level and even when the actual part that heats up in the water has air contact it still works great. My dumb self tried to push it down into the water and a decent amount of water fogged and puffed up right in my face and it instantly started to simmer. After this i unplugged it i left it to cool down and in 10 hours I tested it in a bucket and wow held at 78 degrees and it still does after 2 years.
