For anyone who doesn't remember, a few years back I was helping Como Zoo (St Paul, MN) put in their first real fish displays - namely, a mix species freshwater South American set up. Took a trip over to visit again this afternoon with some local fish people and thought I'd share some of the pics.
Not all are great, but it give you an idea of how things are going. Sadly, the rather large stingray collection I was so proud of is down to one on display.
Plenty of silver dollar, pacu, peacock bass, and niger catfish to show. You have no idea how hard it was not to jump in and clean the freakin' algae off the display walls. :D

If you remember my thread about building it, these two 'tree trunks' on the right side encase the twin bio towers for the two bigger displays.

And a few of the cichlid and archer tanks I had set up.

And some other random shots from all over.
This is one of the upcoming polar bear exhibit I helped design for them. To open in 2010.

Nice...

i think the turtle is either a common snapper or a african sideneck. and im leening towards the sideneck.

As for the one ray - it's an otorongo/motoro mix I actually got from Underwater Adventures while working at both places. Leos and other motoros (large breeding group I had) were all gone.
There were aquatic turtles of two species in the exhibit I did. Both are South American Podocnemis (expansa and unifilis). The big guy hauling around outside in the second set of pics is a Galapagos tortoise.
