VisiTherm 250-watt STEALTH melt-down

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry to hear about your troubles man. I tested my stealths quite a few times lowering the water below them while they are plugged in. I realized that might be risky about a month ago and lowered them all below the half way mark.. Glad I did. I hope everything works out for you buddy.

I blistered one of my stealths. Realized it was happening and unplugged it, but the metal inside was hot enough to put bubbles in the plastic.

I took it, put it in a bucket of tap water, grounded the bucket of tapwater, and plugged the heater into a gfci and the gfci didn't trip, so I'm still using the heater.

I was afraid to use it after the plastic blistered, tossed it. Had a spare used 200w Stealth in my garage so I am using that..

The 200w seems to run almost 2 degrees hotter then the 250w did, but thats on a small 22-gallon tank, finally have it set right, almost cooked my single Angelfish with the 200, after setting and leaving the apartment for the next 2-days.
