visitherm heater, horizontal ok?

just got a visitherm heater for my oscar, is it ok to put it horizontally? i have read that this is optimal for distribution of heat and for water changes

the intructions says not to have the cord wet but putting it along the bottom horizontally would have the cord wet all the time

anyone know if this is ok?
 
Not sure about your Visi-Therm heater model. I have mostly Ebo-Jager and one WON. I place both of these horizontally in my tanks, with cords submersed, with no problems.

In the latest Doctors Foster & Smith catalog, they show both the Visi-Therm "Deluxe" and Visi-Therm "Stealth" heaters. The "Deluxe" is glass and the "Stealth" is shatterproof plastic. Both are "fully submersible".

If your instructions say, "not to have the cord wet ", you will have to keep the heater upright with cord out of the water. or return it for one that is fully submersible.

i have the deluxe, i think i'm gonna go ahead and put it in horizontally
 
yeah, that's where i ordered it from, came 2 days early
 
i have a visi therm heater and although it is vertical the wire is still submerged and has been for 2 years with no problems so putting it horizontally should be ok
 
You can place it like this with no problems, Ive been doing it for 10+ years with no problems.
 
Not sure whay they say to not have the cord under water. All my visa-therm heaters have the cords underwater and have been doing it that way for several years (over 10). I don't typically buy Visa-Therm anymore but I am unaware of some change where the cord can't be submersed.
 
thanks for everyone's replies, i put it horizontally last night, no problems yet

also got 2 Whisper 60s for the big guy (measured yesterday for a TL of 7.5") but unlike any other filters i've had they are not silent, not too loud but it could get annoying

my Whisper 10i, C, 40, and AC110/500 are all almost dead silent, fdjaslfjkalsfjdakkljaskj
