I like Vista but it is definately a resource pig. You need at least 4 msg of Ram to run it properly.
is that the key to the problem?

Am sorry, but, thats utter craaaap....My comp is AMD Semperon 1.8Ghz with 1gig of ram....i run Vista ultimate with every feature turned on...everything runs fine...

Vista all the way for me...i have no compatibility issues, all features and functions are easy to find and quick to access...Never looked back to Xp since i changed to Vista, which was around about Beta 1...

VISTA is MS worst OS ever!! PURE JUNK

I run the Vista Enterprise version and sitting idle with only one open aplication it runs 1.8 meg of RAM. As soon as you start opening things up, particularly Office 2007 applications, it starts climbing pretty fast.

Obviously the amount of background features you have turned on will limit or increase the amount of idle usage RAM. My gaming machine runs XP which has been around long enough be pretty stable and relatively economical on RAM.

My favourite operating system is Leopard. I got a new MAC about 3 months ago and just love the thing!

Vista is junk. It takes up way too much system resources (just to idle), allocates resources badly (it gives every instance of an open program the same amount of ram- try running 2 web applications at the same time and have one window of IE open just to look at the local news- pretty bad) and is more difficult to navigate. XP (any addition) is much better. Most of the really bad bugs are worked out of it. I think Microsoft was trying to top their Millennium mistake when they created Vista (didn't quite do it but Vista has been around longer the Millennium- might still beat Millennium for the worst Microsoft OS).

All i know is totally restoring a pc 2 x's in 3 months.... running on vista does not give me the optimisim i sought when i bought a brand new pc...but my windows xp lasted for 5 years ... maybe i have faulty software... a lemon..

I just setup a dell box for my friend. I never used Vista and boy I don't ever plan to do so. 2k was good XP got a little bloated, vista what did they do?

Finally someone agrees with me. :headbang2 The only thing I can get ANYONE to complain about to back up their claim that vista is a piece of crap OS is that it uses too much ram, doesn't have a pic resizer, or has too many bugs. If it has so many bugs, what are they? Using too much ram is obviously a faulty claim, as explained below. No pic resizer is a very small thing when you are talking about a brand new OS that has taken years to design.

Needing 4gig of ram is crap. I have home premium with every feature turned on with my 2 gigs of ram and I am only using 800 mb with Pandora Radio Station, Monsterfishkeepers, the control panel, task manager, and atleast 7 or 8 resource loving programs, like weatherbug, local news, antivirus, and antispyware, sitting in my toolbar.

I have to say this. I dont use a computer to normal standards. I dont just surf the web and listen to music. I have some very intensive programs that absolutely eat vista alive. and xp pro runs them like a champ
