I actually wanted a con, but the guy at the LFS said that it would be too aggressive. He also said that Firemouths would be too small.

But you guys think that just one con and one firemouth (not interested in setting up yet more tanks to growout fry) would work in my setup?

For real. I thought he would work in this tank... but, alas... no. The problem is he just doesn't let up. Everytime the JD would swim into the open water he would run her up into the top of the back right corner. The only tank I can get him to work in is a 55 gal I have setup with SAE's in it. They are his victim of choice for that tank and there are several of them and they are nice and fast.

He's a total punk.
 
he should grow bolder over time, hes probably just still getting use to his new home

and it is a female

and also that piece out of his dorsal should grow back
