Yes but it takes them a little while to feel comfortable.

Mine has always eaten in front of me, just took a couple of weeks to get onto pellets and frozen. It is 7"+ and eats frozen prawn, Tilapia (anything frozen), crawlers and any kind of pellets as long as they are softened first.
