What is a good schedule to put my Vittatus for eating time (example- every other day)? I am new to this crazy fish. Whats the best way to get him off feeders?

I have an 8'' Vit. and It never seems to accept dead food. I keep the tank stocked with a couple feeders for it at all times as mine tends to get mean with the fish if it gets hungry. But all fish aren't the same. How big is yours and what size tank?

u have the atf and scomb togeother? i would feed every day whenever he is hungry, that will keep him growing normally

Yes I have both together. They both seem to respect eachother. However I do recall seeing a long scratch on my ATF once and I suspect it was a let's see who's boss kinda thing. Since then no prolems ( now watch that I wrote this ,problems will start lol ) I try to keep feeders in with them at all times and it seems to work for me.

not sure. but im trying to keep the armatus and redtail togeother, so the atf had to go to another tank

I just tossed in some dried krill and it would hit it and immediately spit it out. But once it either got hungry enough or liked the taste, it ate it. Mine takes silversides and the frozen krill also. Just lucky I guess

I have a scomb with a Vittatus. My scomb follows the Vittatus. It seems to have respect for my Vittatus, then again I just got my Vittatus (from exoticfishguy). My scomb is 4" and my Vittatus is 4.5". I will be adding another Vittatus this Friday, and hopefully i dont experience any fighting. If I do the scomb gots to go!

How big is your tank? I don't reccommend having 2 vit's together. I had 3 and I had to get rid of 2 because the dominant one was going to kill the 2 others and I've read the same thing from others. You need a group of them to spread out the bickering. Watch them closely if you do it. Good luck,
Mike
