I remember way back in 1991/92 the aquarium downtown here had a Hydrocynus, and from what I remember, l'd almost swear it was a vittatus. Without sugar coating it or exaggeration, it was at least 24", honestly probably more like 30". I was told it came from California, and they paid either 500 or 5,000 for the fish. All I remember for sure was the number started with a 5. It was brilliantly striped and had a bright red bottom on the caudal fin . I remember it had a mouthful of teeth(obviously),.and was super tame. Is that size that I said too big for a vittatus in captivity? It could have very well been a H. forskali, or another striped Hydrocynus, though. But like I said, I'd just about swear it was vittatus , by my recollection. Oh well. Wish I had taken pictures of alot of things way back then. Thanks.
