So... can I use silicon without the glass? I was going to try to make a natural divider for land and water with just silicon.

Maybe I just don't know what silicon is then. Loads of people use glass and silicone, it's not a big deal. Natural would be sloping some coco fibre or rocks into the water section to me. Hopefully others can help, I have no clue what just silicon is or if it can be made into a barrier of sorts. lol

You could try for something like what's outlined in this video, more of a gradual slope using the gravel drainage layer, but looks very natural:

Cat litter and water and eco earth...seriously how do people think of these things. That's a great idea, I think my hermit crabs might like some of this.

Wonder if you can get water on the newly made "clay though"? It should stay together.

People run drip wall systems using this background method, which means a constant stream of water running down it. So I don't see why not. Just make sure it completely sets first.

You could also just use the clay cat litter method to create your divider - just build up a berm where you want your water area to be and put your substrate on one side and water on the other, and all done.

buy glass at home depot. or a broken tank. get a glass cutting kit at home depot. done. ur in like 15 bucks

Or at the same hardware store you could pick up a piece of slate instead of glass and have them cut it to the dimensions you want. It'd be abit more expensive but it'd certainly look more natural.

why more $ a 12"x12" tile is around $2.00

^^^
Tile takes a specific cutting device to cut it compare to cutting glass which almost anyone can do with a glass cutting kit.
