Vodka or sugar + fishtank = ?

I'm just wondering, why can't we do a similar thing in freshwater..
save doing 800L water change every day if emergency arises..
Theres also water restrictions here that need to be thought of..
 
Fresh water doesn't do the same things in a protein skimmer that salt water does. Its so light weight the bubbles doesn't have the same adhesion qualities and don't collect. They just wash back into the tank.

theres almost no anerobic zones in fresh water. but if you build a coil denitrator, you can dose that weekly to keep your anerobic bacteria at its peak
