Do you understand the conditioning and training it takes to take the belt in those leagues?
Takes years and cauliflower ears!

ufc crap is just an excuse to legalize fighting
boxing has the same training basically
besides rolling around on the floor touching other guys

The information on Faber says that he trained for one month before fighting and then mopped up with a 20-1 record. He also apparently has a "guillotine chokehold" which is about technique and not how tough he is. That says to me one of two things. One is the association is really weak if a guy with one month worth of training can mop up. Option 2 would be that it's all fixed.

Don't get me wrong. I have a lot of respect for mma fighters in general. But are they the toughest guys on the planet? I guess it would depend on how you define tough.

There are some awfully tough strongmen like Magnus Ver Magnusson and Mariusz Pudzianowski.

There are some tough sobs fighting on the Muay Thai circuit in Asia.

Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar DelaHoya....

Whoever said that Muhammad Ali was a slow fighter, thanks for the LOL of the day.

I like the fact that triathletes are getting big votes. They deserve them.

What about just one Navy Seal?

This list is so lacking in names.

Lance armstrong by far

for many reasons

i am a cyclist so i now the pains of the sport
he was one of the top prospects in american cycling and then had extreme cancer
but to come back from extreme cancer all in his testicles his lungs his brain, shows his tenacity courage and bravery to win the hardest sporting event in the world 7 years in a row,
all the training that is involved and the willingness to destroy yourself (literally)
not like boxing or any other sport

many will probably disagree, maybe next year you should all watch the tour de france and then you will know what i am talking about

Lance armstrong by far though

also honestly UFC is not tough at all, all they do is beat the living crap out of other guys, i dont see anything tough in that, does not show anything about the character, which is what makes many atheletes ascend to the record books and credibility

Tottally agree with the strongmen you listed, i don't care who this guy can chokehold, he can't take, lift, train in the same leauge as strongmen.

i have watched mma and these guys come from nowhere and the "best in the world" of them changes with every passing month. Strongmen can be champions for years without being beaten.
