Oscar Tummy
Ever since my 125g leaked and destroyed my povertous little heart, my Oscar has been living in a 55g hex. He's doing really well in there, but it's killing me to see him like that. Then, last week (this week? Whatever...) I scored a 5" Jack Dempsey. I know they typically max out at 8 to 10 inches, which is far more appropriate for a 55g hex than my 13" chunk of wild peruvian O. But it's breaking my heart because I essentially swore an oath to keep this Oscar for life knowing what his fate would be elsewhere. Without money, I feel I must break my oath. I know some of you use money for toilet paper, so this would be a drop in the hat for you. But for a regular person like me it's a nightmare.

What would you do?

You mean the $3.25 Dempsey? Or the hobby in general?

A 125 gal would be sweet. You could house both of them. But, 125 gals don't fall from the sky. What is this pond you are talking about? That is the option I voted for.

Keep the Dempsey. Find someone for the Oscar (not LFS) through Craigslist, MFK, anything but the LFS.

Oscars are great, but I don't like them that much anymore. They get too big, needing a large tank. Might as well buy a FX5 just for a group of Oscars. Eat like hogs, always water issues. They have their purpose, but I'm not wasting a 75 or 125 tank just on these fish again.

As much as I hate to say it, sell or rehome the Oscar.. I grow very attached to my fish, and a decision like this one would be very overbearing for me.. if your able to let him go, do it... but of course not without probing the new owner...:D

Your other option(s) require money, so it's apparent what your choice needs to be.. you could cry, but that's not going to help much...

When you say set up the pond, I took it as its a realistic option? If not then u should get rid of the dempsey =P

tell me something about the hybrid rtc... mine is growing kind of slow.. when i first got it, it was only 4 inches long and now only 5 after 1 month but 2 of my waling catfish use to only be 2 inches now at 6 inches... all aquired at the same time.
