I just bought a 125 used and it come with a Pro Clear Aquatics W/D filter(no pump). Also the tank is not drilled it has the HOB box for the overflow.

My plan is to put my (2) pairs of Geo Tapajos II in the 125 and maybe a CL.

Would you go with the W/D(and buy a pump) or a new FX5?

I'm a little scared of the W/D since I have heard stories of them turning a room into a small pond due to power outtages or pump failure. I have never used a W/D so I have no experience at all. Are there some type of automatic shut-offs for cases like this?

I like the W/D's the overflowing can be fixed with a simple drill bit in the right spot. All you have to do is drill a 1/8" hole in the output tube just below the water level. That will break the siphon and you won't get a flood.

the w/d all the way

Ziggy, I'm retarded when it comes to these W/Ds. Could you pretty much paint a picture for me:screwy::screwy::screwy:;)

I have never seen one setup in person just pics on the web.
Are you talking about the output from the sump?

how far below the water level?

If my water level went down (evaporation)to the hole would that break the syphon and burnout my pump?

The water is pumped from the sump to the tank. The pipe that comes off the pump is the return pipe. The hole just needs to be near the surface of the tank's water. Mine is actually a little over the water line. It lust spits a little water out until you shut the pump off. When you shut the pump off, the hole sucks air and breaks the syphon. A cool thing about a wd is that the water level never changes. When the water evaporates, the sump level goes low, not the tank. This means that the tank always has a "presentable" water level.

you can also use an inline check valve to prevent backflow.

i would do the wet dry and clown loaches prefer groups not singles get like 7-9 of them

Thanks everybody.

I'm just gonna get one CL to help keep the bottom clean. I'm trying to breed my Tapajos II so once they lay some eggs the CL is going in a different tank for a while.

I think I'm missing a few pieces on the sump. I'll take some pics tonight and post em. Anyone with a Pro Clear brand can probably tell me what I need to get setup.

If the overflow box is the right one for the sump it will not overflow, just fill the tank over half way then start filling the sump untill the tank level starts flowing through the overflow box at a good rate and then mark the water level on the sump then turn the pump off and the water should not overflow the sump then turn the pump back on and the tank will fill back up and overflow box should restart automaticly. I prefer to have the tank drilled myself because I know it will always start when the pump starts backup and it is as simply as using a drill and a glass cutting holesaw but the overflow box should be fine. good luck.
