Here are a few pics of my plans for my 10X3X3 plywood tank I am just getting started building. If you could please let me know what you think it would be greatly appreciated.

As you can tell from the pics it will have a built in wet dry of sorts. The walls of the tank will be 2x4s stacked on the flat with staggered joints ans screwed and glued "nolapete style". The stand will be 6x6 rough cut hemlock. Like I said before any comments will be appreciated and any questions will be answered.

How tall is your glass?

I would suggest you inset a 2x3 frame inside the 2x4 window frame. Just like I did with mine. You could go with a 33" tall piece of glass and end up with a 30" tall viewing window that is very well framed.

It's really easy to do, but if you need help with it let me know.

or

You could just put it inside the tank and go with a 36" tall piece.

36" height works out well for the walls.

I would sandwich the bottom plywood with and additional 2x4 base

tank
plywood
2x4 base on flat 1' centers

Tack the plywood to the tank with 2" deck screws then screw the base to the tank walls with 3" deck screws. Use Liquid nails construction adhesive between the layers.

Screw the plywood down to the base 1' centers with 2" deck screws.

U plan on puttin a pickup on that stand also :grinyes:

Looks great tho, nice solidsoyoucansleepatnight build.

Cant wait to see your start

Looks good so far.

That sounds good. Because of the weight of the tank as well as the stand I am building the stand first in place and then proceding to build the tank directly on top of it. In the end they will be both inseperable and imobile.

Exactly the way I like it. Build it right the first time and you'll never have to do it again. And as far as starting the build I already have, but I'm not going to do posts or pics of it until I'm almost done. The reasoning for that is I am a father of three little girls, a full time dairy farmer, and starting the part time police academy in a month. As you may be able to guess the build won't exactly be flying by and I'd hate to have people get frustrated at the slow tempo.
