Wal-Mart Protest........... *PLEASE HELP*

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All the Walmart's I've been in (in Georgia) take decent care of the fish. I've never seen anything that upset me.

I don't think Walmart chains should stop, but maybe the Walmarts that can't handle it.
Walmart should stop selling Pacu's though. Or at least give a warning about their growth potential.

there was a walmart that just got revamped near me, at first i was quite impressed with their display, puffers, and sutff i couldnt even find at petsmart. but then two weeks later the tanks were covered in green and there was a sign that said do not sell fish, went back there last night and somebody did a complete overhaul on it, so it looks better now, but i think its because they never turn off the lights in those tanks, and alot of those fish i never saw again, and i dont think they were sold....

and pets mart and petco are just as bad....

petsmart and petco here actually are pretty good. they have someone who likes working with the fish all the time (one girl that works in fish there has a couple large oscars) at petsmart. at petco they have multiple people maintaining the setups.l

but then you have to make the argument that i know people at petsmart who dont know crap about fish, but then there are those who enjoy it and like what they do.

The Wal-Mart near my place takes good care of them. Every time I go in I see the same kid cleaning the tanks. I've talked to him and he really likes his job so that might be the difference.

Our walmart here has done a good job taking care of their fish as well, which kind of suprises me. We have another large fish company in the area that does not take care of their fish.

The best way to stop all store from having shi*y retail practices is to not shop there and let them know why. If a retail giant such as Wal-Mart knows that you and 1000 or more other people will not shop there until they start treating there staff better and selling better quality stuff then they will have to change.

im going to have to disagree with this statement. i believe their live fish department is 0.001% of their retail capacity, and since they already have a strangehold on every little business in america, why should they care. they are still rolling in the cash

Even if they get more and more people that wont shop there not only because they treat there fish like crap but also there employees. There more peopl ethat don't shop there until they fix thing the more likely they will try and fix it.

Anyone can educate, that's the key, we don't have huge 'sell everything stores' over here, if we did then education would be the key
