If you can figure out the country of origin for both sources of shrimp, choose the one (or ones) that are from the US (for both fish and human consumption). Same with Tilapia.
Shrimp and Tilapia from China (and Central America) are often farmed in human waste and dosed with anti-biotics. Not what you'd want in your body or your fishes'...

I switch between a local store here called Meijer or Sam's Club. I purchase the peeled and deveined shrimp. Less work for me. LOL I just thaw them out for about 1/2 hour in warm water, cut them up into small pieces, rinse well and feed. My rays go nuts over them.
The only thing I don't like about Sam's Club frozen shrimp is they are much smaller than the other stores brand and they leave the tail shell's attached where the other brand is completely de-shelled.
Really, fed manure?....and that crap makes it to our supermarket shelves?Agree 100% nothing farmed in Asia. Fed manure In a cesspool
I dnt know about that but shrimps need pretty clean water to survive. For sample those tiny fancy red cherry shrimp need clean water to survive and one sick shrimp can wipe out a whole colony. I know a guy that work on a shrimp farm in his country he said they dnt like sudden change in water chemistry. The water had to be very clean. Most shrimps in Asia are freshwater types.Really, fed manure?....and that crap makes it to our supermarket shelves?
