Wall tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You should really reconsider the dimensions. 4 feet tall is really impractical; 4 feet depth instead of height would allow you to keep a lot more fish with the same gallonage.

It's about room, I need to keep as much as possible. But yeah, I'd really love a RTC and a arow, but, due to room requirements I can't :(

Do a reverse flow under gravel. You essentiall would be forcing the return water up through the gravel.

Pump for this tank you are looking at needing about 2000gph or more, depending on if you are using mechanical or not. If mechanical you will need a high head pump.

Ok, thanks dude. That's a really good idea, I appreciate your help :)

Is it OK if it's on carpet, and will it need a piece of polystyrene underneath it?

Would it be practical if I used bricks and one glass panel Instead of using plywood and the like? It'd be MUCH cheaper, Like in the 2-3 hundred range.

The problem with reverse flow ugfs is that you need to break them down every so often to clean them out. Yeah, I know you use a gravel vacuum, but there is still waste trapped underneath (even with reverse flow), and it will reduce the filtering capacity over time for the ugf. It can also build up pockets of deadly gas and lead to "old tank syndrome". Now, picture this: breaking down, cleaning, and reinstalling a ugf in a 4' deep tank! Thanks, but NO THANKS! I say get a couple of fx5s ($400 shipped from JohnPTC) and call it a day.

Good point.. Hmm It seems I am lost in the ways of filtration...
