I think quite possible. Micropogon has been recently split from leerii by a prominent ichthyologist Dr. Heok Hee Ng (aka Silurus on PCF) and had been believed to be the same species for a very long time before that. I think PCF has a description of how to tell them apart and, needless to say the revision does too. Alternatively, get good pics and post a question on the PCF. You will be glad you did, I think.
