I wouldn't do it... I tell you this, because I want to do it all the time, but keep myself from it because Oscars are just Oscars you never know how they'll do in your community tank.. although I know it's so hard not to...

I came close to buying it, and my friend was trying to get me to. But ultimately, it would have to have its own tank, and i really don't have room for another tank. Maybe, it will luck out and get a good home.... though I doubt it. Shame you can't save em all.

Oh, the pet stores in this general area are even worse than walmart. I'd have to drive the fish over 100 miles to get it somewhere decent... and that place would tell them that it could fit in a bowl if it would make a sale. The closest place i know of that actually cares about their fish is 250 miles away.

I just doubt an oscar would get along well with my severums, parrots, or my ebjd
Those are all normal oscar tankmates. I see no issue. Once he's hit six inches in the thirty he ought to be fine to go into the 210. Seriously. Most O's are gentle and prefer to avoid conflict.

I agree. Oscars don't need there own tank. Mine lives with fish less than half his size and never fights anyone. Rarely though, you do get a bat **** crazy murderer oscar.

I've had 3 oscars. One was very mild and timid, the other two were psyco. The timid one was a big foot long, the others were 6 inchers. I don't want to add more fish to my 210. Its overstocked as it is, without adding a big poop machine. Now, maybe when I get that 500 gal im saving up for...

Wow it is sooo cute. I got probably my favorite red oscar from Walmart, prettiest little thing I've ever seen. Had to go back and buy him. Couldn't resist. The 55 would be big enough for a while :)
