Okay so my local walmart i doubt is going to stop selling fish because of the huge college community located around it. But i thought of an idea that I want to try. Next time i go into walmart I want to talk to the manager there ask him/ her a few general fish related questions see if they get it right or wrong. If wrong ( which is obviously going to be yes) Offer to make a re-write of all the information posted underneath the fish being sold in that store, in the description include diet tank mates tank size temperature growth rate etc, also make a sign saying "STOP IS YOUR TANK CYCLED" and explain what tank cycling is and the importance of it. Sorry if it's a bit scrambled, i'm really scatter brained at the moment but I thought it's an idea worth a shot rather than making a petition for something that is not going to happen in the likley future

I also noticed how there is nobody ever there maintain the fish, i'd even offer my time to help at least maintain a healthy environment for each tank...although yes it does support the walmart trade but hopefully it would make the conditions in at least this one walmart better

again it's just an idea...i don't think it's really going to happen something like that but i just want to make them aware that the conditions in those tanks are not suitable ( i'm preparing for a chem exam while i type this so my brain is 0_o lmao i'll write up a better way when i'm done with this test hahah)

if the reason your walmart is still selling fish is because of college students then you putting out needed info about the fish isn't going to help. I attend a large college and have walked in more dorm rooms and seen 5-10 gallon tanks FULL of fish that need at least 100g tanks. its disgusting but students don't care they think its cool to buy large fish and name them after drugs or beer and put them in the cheapest tanks they can find. :nilly:

the problem i really have is not that they are selling the fish, it's the information provided underneath the fish. It's not as accurate as it could be and it's giving novice fish keepers the idea that they can keep a fish like an oscar in a goldfish bowl and think it's perfectly okay

I don't know I just want to find a way to help the conditions of the fish and provide the necessary information needed towards the fish keepers buying the fish, if walmart is going to sell that is fine by me just give out the necessary information needed to care for each fish

Stop trying to be a crusader for fish rights, and just ask for a job at your local walmart. That's how YOU make a difference.
