I'm friends with the manager and employees at my lfs, the manager told me he buys his 55g for $75 wholesale. So much for roll backs eh?
yea roll backs my *** more like mark ups to the extreme.... it may not be catchy but thats what the deal is
Walmarts are walmarts, They buy in bulk and all prices are pretty much the same, varys in areas slightly. IME, marineland makes good products. My marineland 15 gal i got 3 yrs, with filter and heater for i think around 60. I broke the heater but everything is still in good shape.
Fish prices went wayyy up this past year so it really wouldnt suprise me. My LFS changing $30 for a 3in Jack Dempsey. HA! F outta here.

Are there any fish clubs near you? Mine (CCA in DC area) has an online marketplace, monthly auctions at the meetings, and lots of trading among members.

they sell 'top fin' branded tanks that are made by Marineland. I am surprised they are charging that much.

Starter sets include: top with light fixture, Filter (crap filter), 1 use of conditioner, a joke amount of flake. 10 does not come with a heater (i bought one and mine didnt) not sure about others. Not a good deal at all, but my 10 has been running for a year no problems, but then again its a 10.
I was actually going to get the starter set for a 55 when I needed a new 55 last week, but I called petsmart and they had 55G starter set on sale for $155. And it looks alot better with black silicone.
For just the tanks they are cheaper, $10 for 10 gallon, $20 for 15 Gallon, $25 for 20 gallon.

Petco is still running the "Dollar per Gallon Sale" I just randomly picked up a 20 and two tens, I do not even know what the heck i am gonna do with them....but i have them now anyway.
