No takers on defending the fish and wildlife yet I have sent 3PM to mods to put the phone # back up and NADA. I would expect a little more HOOORAH then this. It's not like it was hard to find out who was in charge. I called two people, one told me they were illegal because someone put an alligator into a pond.... but to his recolection never a stingray... so I told him to give me somebody that had an ansewr or that they had no president to make them illegal. I got a phone # and called. Lady had no idea that there were even such a thing as freshwater stingrays... then told me a story about how some guy put an alligator in a pond. WTF  thats nice so you don't have ANY records of FW rays in the wild.... not to her recolection so i got the number to the board director specialist who determins whats ok and whats not. It's funnie if questions aren't asked ansewrs don't just pop out and say why.
PS if i hear one more freaking alligator in a pond story causeing the FW stingray to be put on the list I'm going to go :swear: postal

from what i have read and/or gathered in the past, the most effective way to affect change in situations such as this is a well-organized, concerted effort from a "grouping" of people working together in established ways.... NOT a few individuals "bombing" a persons answering machine or voicemail and pissing said individual off!!!!

just a thought....!!!

Dear All

From what i know, the humble FW Sting Rays has been Banned from export in BRAZIL and several other South American countires.
It is now under the spotlight of the SINGAPORE authorities & i believe others..

Their population are depleting fast as their reproduction rate is low.

Tyson... thats news to me. Leo's and tigers are rare. Leos by far the rarest. Funnie thing is that latest I heard at Aquaria China 2004 September was they weren't even in the startup for putting rays on the list. Not to mention the fact that we got offered over 10,000 rays last year from our farmers in Peru. I've got the article here if you would like me to post it. Where did you get the idea they were not going to be exported? :headbang2

You can PM Waldo for his no, should you wish to leave a message.

DW has a point. I had to yell at miles for posting pictures of our facility...as much as I would LOVE to show you how these rays are farmed and kept... It could mean all my tanks are poisoned or one of my employees lives. Thanks for clearing up those rays over there DW, The article i read was on the response of Leo's and tigers being the cause of concern but all the studies they had shown was just like you said.... not rare just in some remote are of B.F.E.
BTW I don't know about Brazil but Peru and a Holiday every week it seems like. Whenever my partner tells me it's a holiday I ask "Saint what?" :screwy:
