Appreciated....
I am inquiring on some though..just waiting for a response from vendor.....

I have had some small ones in the past.....Some albino sens and a reg. sen as well but they never got over the 10 inch mark....I have another reg sen right now that will not grow for the life of it....Eats like a horse as well.....

IME Water parameters are best with slightly acidic water.. ph ranging from 6.2-6.7 optimal for the bichirs health.. but if u r getting larger bodies.. i would suggest acclimating them to a more neutral ph.. food would nt be anything u wanna feed the fish.. but more of a good protein based diet.. these fish are not meant to get over-fed.. feed them once every three days for the large bodies.. a diet of beef heart , sutchi fillets , peeled market prawns , Monster pellets and occasional bull frogs (live) would be a good treat.. housing every kind will not be a problem.. they will live in harmony as long as they are well fed.. the larger guys are not too territorial.. substrate would be fine with sand but i would prefer light colours as they allow the bichir to show more patterns and colours.. do enjoy keeping them.. they also have a huge output so water changes must be done frequently.. they are pretty sensitive to ammonia.. best housed with other bichirs and peacful fish (large and not small enough to fit in thier mouths).. Happy bichir keeping.. Welcome to the bichir world..

Cheers..
Ray..

Appreciate the added info...

My tank is now getting in order..it isn't near as cloudy anymore-I should beable to get some pics of the substrate finally tomarrow. I really think it turned out good..Almost like a salt and pepper mix.

Right now I am just going to use a T5 setup that has 4 x 45 watt bulbs-I can change this later on to halides if I don't like this setup

Thanks
Ak
