i'm pretty sure its bad to put cement in tanks but i could be wrong

If cement is fully cured, it's fine to put in tanks. Many of the 1,000+ gallon tanks here are made of either cement or plywood.

Like everyone said, natural is the best. Rocks, driftwood and plants look great.

My senegal doesn't use any hiding spots. Just swims around and sits in the open. My big ornate can't get enough of hiding. You don't even know he's there most of the time but he just hides in plants or under some driftwood.

Lol... I guess mine are spoiled then. They love to hide. So I provide them with spots, and they each have their own.

They don't happily share their spots( they send any intruding sens out with a nip), but they sure love to try and steal each other hidey spots. :D

It just gets more challenging to find things they can fit in as they get bigger...lol.

Here is my setup. Driftwood, strawberry pot, and fake rock. All bichirs are between 7"-12".

I use pieces of drift wood that arn't flat on the bottom so it makes caves and arches for my bichirs to hide I just stuff java ferns in the woods crevices,
for a rock cave I was thinking about using aquarium safe silicone and just stacking rocks to form almost sort of a tunnle

Fishguy:Many of the 1,000+ gallon tanks here are made of either cement or plywood.True but they are sealed with an epoxy sealant.Cement can be safe if its fully cured this usually requires either a huge amount of time for the lime to leech out
or huge amounts of chemicals to speed up the process ( I have notes on this somewhere)(ok vinegar)

My mob seemes to like to hangout under a piece of driftwood or under plants I used to have stacked slate caves but they pretty much ignored them-Anne
