I had a similar set up a few years ago. I had Congo Tetras included in my stock. I had a 5" Albino Senegal at the time. She left the Congos alone. My friend decided he wanted the same set up, but his 4" Albino Senegal took down a 2.5" Congo Tetra.

So if you don't want Cichlids, you can try Congo Tetras, but there is a chance they can end up on the menu.
