I found this guy that wants to sell his 90gal for like $100, which I can afford (I live by myself so getting $1500+ for a big tank is hard.)

I've been wanting a 150+gal for a while, but I figure this could be a neat little "upgradable" monster tank (then when they move out.. maybe I could put my africans in here.)

I want to put a oscar (it's only like.. 3" right now at my LFS), a 2-3" Longnose Gar, and 1-2 3" Dempseys. I'll have a FX5/AC110 running on this, is this big enough for babies.. then when they get bigger to plop them in the 150+gal?

Should be fine.. Will need a bigger eventually.. If you plan to upgrade you could even get more than those 3 fish.

I definitely plan on upgrading to a 150-200gal tank in the next 6-10 months.

More than those 3? What would you suggest? We have some neat eels at my work aswell (the LFS), some dempseys.

I was thinking like this if I could fit a few more.

1x 2-3" Oscar
1x 2" Gar
2x 3" Dempseys

Then I guess I could maybe throw a Red Texas Cichlid and one of our GT (not a true unfortunately)

So,

2x 1.5" RT Cichlids
1x GT (not true)

I thought I'd be overcrowding it, but they're all still small.

Red Devil , Black Belt Cichlids are nice so are Jaguar's , you will deffently need to upgrade to a 300Gal + tank when the Oscar and Gars grow bigger .

What about another Oscar or two ?

Bumping for any more opinions :)

If your going to upgrade for sure, you could throw in quite a few fish, that dont exceed 15'' in length.. lol.. Oscars, dempsey, GT, RT, Salvini, gar, many more! I dont specialize in CA and SA cichlids, but there are a handful you could pick up.

Well, we have some Severums at my LFS.. but they're just a really bland white color. I'm just not a fan of them I guess.

I really like the gar we have, an oscar or two would be awesome. We have some Blue Acaras aswell, which are neat.

How big are they? You'll be surprised how beautiful they can actually be once full grown. Here is my male gold severum grown from an inch...;)

He's cute! The ones we have are like, 2.5" maybe? Still white with a very small tinge of yellow on their bellies.

I had a beauitful wild Red shoulder severum. there are several pretty species..
